I've been watching a lot of videos lately. Specifically videos about monkeys and the great apes. Quite amazing creatures. There is something about watching a chimpanzee craft a spear and then proceed to hunt with it that lays a strange feeling on my heart. How close to us they are. I have always felt this way about apes and monkeys though. However, what I find odd recently is not that they are so close to us. It's how close we are to them. Watching all those videos and then going to my community service...seeing the people...how they hoot and holler. How they create tools to solve problems. How they are driven to violence so easily. It makes me appreciate how like THEM we are. A bunch of apes.

Although this might just be because I'm assisting in a middle school class room...
