He was bleeding. The deal was a trap and now he was bleeding. Why was he so trusting? This always happened...and now, running as fast as he could, he could feel the warm fluid flowing over his hand and through his fingers.

"It could be worse" he thought. It was only a graze. The problem was that the low velocity slug guns that the Enforcers use have a nasty tendency to ruin everything. The round had just nicked his side but tore a wound five times larger than its self.

He ducked and weaved though the many pipes and cables that consumed the under belly of The Holy City. He had been smuggling in this so called "haven" for 15 years and knew his way about. The network was vital to the city but now it was just in his way. He couldn't see more then ten meters because of the dense complex and he cursed him self for taking this rout.

He had to lie down to get under a titanic pipe that was both the main water way for the city and support for all kinds of other pipes. As he shimmied under it he left a streak of blood. This worried him only for a moment because on the other side he could just make out the Divide.

The Divide was a vast wall that ran down the width of the under belly and served as one of the main supports that held the City. It was building unto its self. The upper stories served as a control center for all of the power, water and various other things for the Holy City. Below them It was rented out to those that needed the space. Offices, housing, even small businesses were not uncommon. The Divide even had its own Enforcer dispatch.

He wasn't worried about the Enforcers. The dispatch was on a much higher level and it was small. It just watched the wall and rarely had anything to do with under city matters.

Besides, he didn't plan on staying for long. On the other side of the Divide were the inner workings of the industrial district. This sector of the under city was home to all the smugglers, thugs, gangs, dealers, and heroes of the great Holy City. More importantly it was safe. No Enforcer dared enter this "Den of Corruption" as they called it. Even if they did he was well liked and would be protected.

He reached the wall and started sprinting along side it. He looked franticly for anything that would grant him passage into the Divide and the promise of safety beyond.

Then he saw it. A small hatch fifty meters away. He ran as fast as he could. His legs ached and his lungs burned. He could just hear the slap of his shoes on the damp floor over the pounding in his head. He got to the hatch and stopped so suddenly he slipped. His head did a slight bounce when it hit the ground. He was up right away and fumbled with the latch. He was dizzy and couldn't focus.

Then there was a flash and a thundering crack. For a fraction of a second that small area of the under belly was illuminated as if by daylight. Then it was dark again. At first all he could see was the glow of the metal on the door were it had melted away. He slumped against the wall and slid to the ground. As his vision adjusted and cleared he started to make out an outline. Then, there it was. Before him stood a Inquisitor. Standing eight feet tall it didn't look human. Anyone in the under belly would say it isn't, not any more.

There was low thump as its speakers clicked on. "Jacob Petrov..." said the inquisitor in a deep base filled voice that reverberated off all the pipes that surrounded them.

"You and all your kin are here by condemned to death for violating the sanctity of this Holy City"

Jacob look at the inquisitor with the burning hate of an entire generation.

"May god have mercy on your soul for we have none"

The inquisitor raised its weapon. There was another flash but this time Jacob saw nothing.
Hokay

So

This is the first bit of writing that I ever really did for fun. It was written to go with my Inquisitor pic [link]

I wrote it a long while after I uploaded the pic so not a lot of people were reading it. Then it dawned on me that I could upload it as its own thing. I don't even know if this is the right section (please tell me if its not) but I would like some feed back. That and practice is the only way Ill get better.

I'm thinking of doing a comic in this setting. Not about Jacob in particular but people that live in the Under Belly of The Holy City.

P.S. sorry to all my watchers that already saw this...

A very amusing little story. For someone who doesn't write much you have a good sense of pacing and description.

Is this from the Inquisitor board game? I'm afraid I don't know it mugh beyond normal 40k stories. Evenstill, it was easy to understand what you were going for here. Congrats!

Thanks for writing it!
